Budawang Coast Atlas of Life (BCAL) is a community network dedicated to exploring nature on the NSW South Coast.
We share information, host seminars and workshops, and help each other to learn more. Our observations are recorded using iNaturalist, one of the world’s most popular nature apps.
Join us, learn more about the Budawang Coast, and be part of a growing community contributing to global biodiversity knowledge.

Join BCAL & NPA Milton Branch for a walk in the beautiful Wilson's walk at the Grotto in North Nowra with botanist and NSW fern expert Dr Kevin Mills. And use iNaturalist to record observations.
27 species of ferns are found in the reserve. This is an opportunity to practice your capacity as a citizen scientist and to fall deeper in love with Country. The definition of a fern is 'a flowerless plant which has feathery or leafy fronds and reproduces by spores released from the undersides of the fronds'. This doesn't do them justice,,, come along and allow Dr Kevin to open your eyes to their hidden beauty and charm.
