Be Here Nowra is a community project documenting how meditation can improve the happiness of the individual and a whole town. Our goal is to improve the collective happiness of the town we love through meditation. Meditation is a simple, natural mental technique that helps to de-excite the mind triggering the bodies natural process of rest and rejuvenation. It helps to release the mind of ceaseless thoughts which can lead to reduction in stress and increased happiness.
Meditators receive a wealth of benefits, some are felt immediately while others grow over time. Common reports include: increased energy, better sleep, more adaptability, improved control, newfound creativity and overall improvement in happiness. Science shows that regular meditation lowers your biological age and reduces your chance of age related disease. Research suggests if you can get 1% of a population to regularly meditate, it can have a seismic effect throughout the whole community. This is known as the "super radiance effect". We believe to effect change we must raise the consciousness of the individual and the benefits will flow to the community.
There are many types of meditation, we teach Vedic Meditation which is an ancient technique originating in India and now taught all over the world. It is known as a self-transcendent technique. When you learn Vedic Meditation you are given a personalised mantra and the procedure how to use it properly.
Courses are taught by qualified Vedic Meditation Initiator Barron Hanson. Courses are run over four sessions of 60 to 90 minutes each on consecutive days.
We have mid-week and weekend courses available. We teach out of our studio location in Nowra CBD.

Do you know Ganesh from Gayatri? Lakshmi from Lakshmna?
The Vedic Stories are ancient tales of Superheroes and Super Villains. The epics texts are wild and wonderful and full of wisdom. The tales contain much intrigue and delight but also teach us, through myth and metphor, how the world works, and what our role can be within it. Stories have always been my favourite part of teaching the Vedas - as all ages and all kinds of people learn best through stories. Join Camilla baker to hear some of the old favourites, and some lesser known stories from the epic texts.
Do you know Ganesh from Gayatri? Lakshmi from Lakshmna?

Discover cha doa, the way of tea, in a 1 hour silent tea ceremony with a sharing circle for completion.
Tea Ceremony is a practice originating and influenced by Traditional Chinese Medicine and Zen Buddhism leading to an experience of being one with nature, and the truth and beauty of this moment.
Together, we will cultivate stillness, silence, presence and inner respect to the powers of nature represented in the tea, water, fire and spirit of the ceremony.
This is a perfect way to reconnect to your self, amidst the constant movement, flow and demands of life.
Allow yourself to relish in the silent company and unity with Bini and others.
We will sit together for at least 1 hour. You may drink as much or as little as you like. The ceremony will complete with a bowl of crystal hot spring water and an opportunity to share your experience, connect with each other and ask any questions about the practice of cha-dao.
